What is technora fiber used for . Composition Technora® is an aromatic copolyamide that has a highly oriented molecular structure, consisting of both para and meta linkages. The fiber is incredibly versatile with virtually limitless applications. The fiber is manufactured by means of a gel-spinning process that combines extreme strength with incredible softness. The black color is created by dope-dying, resulting in good color fastness. Technora is produced by condensation polymerization of different copolymers, yielding a high modulus, low creep, and thermally stable fiber. Technora® Staple fiber Technora® Short-cut fiber The fiber is used in many industries to reinforce cables, ropes, hoses, transmission belts, reinforced rubber products, and composites. Specifically, black Technora® is used in applications such as composite fabrics and protective clothing. A unique combination of properties Technora® was first made commercially available in 1987. Technora ® is better than standard para-aramids, but will still absorb atmospheric moisture up to 2% in weight. Technora® filament yarn can be converted into short-cut fibers or dipped chopped fibers with a range of lengths, typically between 1 mm and 30 mm, for use in, for instance, resin, cement and rubber reinforcement. The effects of temperature on fiber strength and modulus are shown in Figures 17 and 18, respectively. Technora fiber lies somewhere between “high modulus PPTA” (HM PPD-T) and “regular PPTA” (SM PPD-T).
